The McDowell Trails Association is finishing work on improvements at the Round Hill Cemetery, the final resting place of several members of the McDowell and Carson families. This historic site is reached by taking the Round Hill Loop off the Joseph McDowell Historical Catawba Greenway. Several trees that posed a threat of falling were removed and the area around the grave site was prepared for the stonework that was laid. A wrought iron fence has been installed around the two markers that list the names of the McDowells and Carsons who are interred on Round Hill. Both families played an important role in the history of McDowell County. Sincere thanks and congratulations on a wonderful job to all who have been involved with the Round Hill Project.
